Name: Daniel Gluck (staff)
Scripture:
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4, ESV)
Reflections:
We made it to the end! If you’re reading this, you did an excellent job of finishing strong. I write this post on the last night of my academic semester in grad school. The end is always filled with pain, late nights, and death to my brain cells. When I finally submit my last paper, I literally find myself feeling giddy. I walk lighter, I smile more, I breathe more deeply and I am more present with those around me. The price is paid and the deed is done.
Though perhaps a shallow metaphor, it is the same with Christ’s death and resurrection. Someone said that “anything worth having will not come without significant hardship.”
But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
Having endured through the dessert of temptation and self-sacrifice, we now have the joy of celebrating his blessed resurrection! We have been crucified with Christ, and yet we live, but it is now His life living in us (Galatians 2:20). Today and as we enter the Easter weekend, may we walk in the newness of life that He has offered.
Prayer for the Day:
Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. Help me to walk in the newness of life that You have made available to me. Don’t let me revert back to my self-seeking ways as Lent concludes, but give me a hunger to continue to seek You daily.
