Scripture: “For he himself is our peace...in his flesh he has demolished the dividing wall of hostility.” (Eph. 2:14)
Reflections:
In this season of Lent as we rightfully and prayerfully reflect upon our life in Christ, considering what might yet cloud our vision, drown out his voice, or deflect us from his path, Paul speaks a vitally important word. Remember who you are, but more importantly, who Christ is.
Before we spend too much time thinking about what we must do, remember what he has done. Never forget that the way to him, into his presence, is now clear; we are beckoned in. We are reconciled; the dividing wall between our heavenly Father and ourselves has been demolished. The barriers are down; the path is open before us. Gone as well are all the walls of separation that we erect between one another: male and female, slave and free, Jew and gentile, and all the others we have added over the centuries. You and I are free to respond, for our bonds are loosed. His call, each day, is for us to embrace him who has already adopted us as his own, and in embracing him, to embrace one another as well. We indeed have much upon which to reflect, to remember, and for which to give thanks. Begin each day re-centering: we are his children; we have been raised with him; we are the dwelling place of his own spirit.
Prayer for the Day:
Father, thank you that in Jesus Christ you have blessed us with every spiritual blessing....help us to see, comprehend and reflect this love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge.
